Electrical Safety and Isolation Procedures Training
Today’s industrial manufacturing and production line systems rely very heavily on electrical and electronic systems to operate. Though there highly skilled technicians and engineers carrying out the installation and maintenance, there is still a need for managers and those responsible for site safety understand what needs to be done to make sure workers on-site are not exposed to danger when working on or near live electrical systems and equipment in buildings.
This half-day course provides practical guidance on the management of electrical safety for people working on construction and refurbishment projects, or undertaking maintenance activities. There is a particular emphasis on low voltage safe isolation procedures.
Course content
During the course the delegates will cover the following subject areas.
- Introduction to safe isolation procedures
- Electricity at work legislation
- Electrical safety equipment for safe isolation purposes
- Safe isolation on-site practical application and practice
Pre-requisites
Whilst there are no pre-requisites for this course it is expected that delegates will have some engineering experience, will be familiar with the use of basic domestic or industrial electrical systems and have some supervisory or management experience.

Career progression:
The half day course is classroom based and covers the underpinning theory, approved codes of practice and an overview of some of the Health and Safety regulations associated with working with Electricity. By the end of this course the delegates will have developed a good working knowledge of the approved safe practices, regulations and risks associated with carrying out electrical work. More importantly they will be able to put actions in place to ensure that all personnel are kept safe during this type of work.
