This free networking event will provide an opportunity to share best practice and experience of managing age discrimination issues in the workplace in the context of the new ACAS guidance on this topic.

Course content
The workforce in the UK is ageing as employees work longer before retiring. This is leading to a wider demographic gap between young and old in the workplace. Employers are increasingly challenged in relation to their workplace practices, policies and procedures when it comes to managing age related issues.
This networking event, which will comprise a short presentation followed by discussion, will be a led by an HRL Adviser from Make UK who will identify some of the key areas for employers to focus on in this area so as to avoid compliance problems and aid workforce planning.

ACAS guidance on age discrimination
We look at the impact of the recent ACAS guidance in relation to a number of tricky areas including: age related assumptions over training and development for employees; implicit if not explicit references to age in recruitment processes; consistency in relation to performance management issues; how to engage with employees around the issue of retirement and management of the menopause in the workplace.
Discussion
Delegates will have an opportunity to share experiences from their own workplaces on the issues raised and so enhance their knowledge and understanding of the available solutions.
