Gas Cutting (Oxy/Acetylene) Training

There are many different skills and techniques within the scope of hot working of metals, particularly in the field of cutting.  One of the most well-known of these skills and techniques is through the use of Oxy/Acetylene cutters and burners. 

This one day course at our Technology Training Centre in Aston, Birmingham seeks to give delegates the necessary training to ensure that they can operate safely and effectively in this particular technique.

Course content

This one day course is ideal for delegates who have little or no previous experience of the process, or delegates who need a refresher in the use of the equipment.  It would also be beneficial to anyone who requires a working knowledge of the Health and Safety considerations when carrying out Oxy/Acetylene cutting operations.

During this course the delegates will carry out the following:

  • Inspection procedures for gas controlled equipment – Code 7

  • Daily check list for gas controlled equipment

  • Maintenance inspection procedure for gas controlled equipment

  • Gas cylinder recognition and identification

  • Maintenance inspection procedure for pressure regulators

  • Gas cutting procedures

  • Set up of equipment and cutting practice

Pre-requisites

Delegates do not require any previous experience of Oxy/Acetylene cutting.

Assessment

Whilst there is no formal assessment on this course, delegates will need to demonstrate a basic working knowledge and understanding Oxy/Acetylene cutting and that they can work safely. Observational feedback on delegates will be given by the instructor and, on successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.  Performance feedback can be provided to the Customer if required.
