Make UK is one of the UK’s leading providers of health, safety & wellbeing services delivering training to companies across the spectrum from multinationals to SMEs.

Even before the Covid 19 crisis we'd been looking to take more of our training online. Now as companies prepare to recover and return to a workplace that will possibly require radical change to the way they operate, as well as placing an even higher premium on their employees’ safety how can they prepare and ensure they keep abreast of the latest requirements.

So how have we pivoted so quickly to delivering all our training online and, how will it look in the future? Instead of a physical classroom all our tutors are now delivering from virtual classrooms with the course theories transferred to a new Learner Management System. Tutors have become incredibly innovative in their own way to deliver the training and this new approach allows our training to continue to be delivered in the current environment with a high level of quality control  with mentoring, online tutoring, assessment and feedback

We’re now offering a wide range of courses via virtual classroom from wellbeing of employees which is crucial in the current environment through to one day compliance programmes for senior managers in areas such as ‘Leadership and Behavioural Safety’. There is also a range of professional qualifications ranging from a one day IOSH Working Safely course to a thirty four day MakeUK/University of Portsmouth Diploma in Health, Safety & Risk Management.

In addition, we’ve developed a new Covid 19 Risk Assessment, Control and Homeworking Safely elearning course and are developing new guidance in response to the current crisis which will include Return to Work after Covid. Given the likelihood of very stringent requirements from Govt and HSE for companies to work safely our expertise will offer companies the reassurance they will need.

I believe our ability to pivot so quickly has provided an impressive example of Make UK's ability to innovate and continue to serve the needs of companies. It is by no means perfect but we are learning and adapting very quickly to the new environment we find ourselves in.

There is little doubt that with social distancing likely to continue for some time and the ability of people to travel around likely to be less attractive, certainly in the near term, this is a model that provides us with an ideal way forward. We have also received some great praise and comments from our clients on how we have maintained a level of learning for them in a virtual model which provides the way forward.
